Rotary International is an international service organization whose stated purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian service and to advance goodwill and peace around the world. It is a non-political and non-religious organization open to all. There are over 35,000 member clubs worldwide, with a membership of approximately 1.2 million individuals.

The International Fellowship of Golfing Rotarians (IGFR), hosts an annual World Golf Championship to foster a sense of worldwide peace, fellowship and friendship. The first Championship was held in 1964 at St. Andrews, Scotland and is now in its 56th year.

During the 56 years of golf championships IGFR and its members have raised in excess of $2.0 million and have helped local communities by funding projects that make a difference to children and families in need and to the environment.
